Between 20-25 October 2019, the first phase of the "Let's get to know each other better" Határtalanul project took place between the Mátyás Király High School in Fonyód and the Székely Károly Vocational School in Miercurea Ciuc. We hosted 30 students and 5 teachers from Mátyás Király Gimnázium in Fonyód. Katinka Ágoston and Bera Borostyán, 11th grade students of Mátyás Király Gimnázium in Fonyód, describe their experiences in their stories.
"Our team left for Csíkszereda at dawn on Saturday. We made a few stops during the 18-hour bus ride, for example at Hunedoara Castle, where we toured the castle halls and were featured in two wedding group photos. We arrived at the hostel late in the evening, where after a quick room key distribution we finally got our dinner. The next few days were quite busy; we visited Băile Tușnad, went up to the 1000 year old border, visited lots of national monuments, looked for bears at St. Anne's Lake, smelled the stinky cave. We hiked a lot, climbed stairs. We walked along a beautiful forest trail. We visited quite a few churches. We ate traditional local food, such as Székely cabbage and munchies. We were lucky enough to meet students from the local vocational school, many of whom are Csángó students. They welcomed us with an interesting and humorous presentation and we ended the day with a nice dinner together. We are really grateful to have been part of this programme, as we have gained a lot of new experiences and knowledge. Thank you so much for the delicious food, drinks and patience of our teachers!"
